Biography
Janet Sue Blanchard, age 68 and lifetime Toledo resident, passed away surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, August 7, 2011 at St. Vincent Medical Center in Toledo after a short battle with cancer.
Janet was born on September 17, 1942 in Toledo to Lawrence and Marcella (Naber) Kromenacker. Janet graduated from Blessed Sacrament Grade School in 1956. She attended and graduated from Central Catholic High School in 1960. She received her teaching degree from Mary Manse College in 1964. Upon receiving her degree, she taught school in the Washington Local School District. Attending TCCY dances and socials, Janet met her future husband Jim Blanchard in 1962. They were married on May 5, 1967. Upon the birth of her first son Jim in 1968, she became a stay home mother for the next 14 years. Her daughter, Laura followed in 1970 and her son, Keith in 1972. Janet returned to teaching in 1982 at Blessed Sacrament Grade School where she retired from.
Janet was a very active member of Blessed Sacrament Parish her whole life where she was involved in many activities. She loved playing golf, bowling, spending time in Florida, family vacations and playing cards. She also enjoyed traveling and most recently took trips to Italy, Australia, and Alaska.
Janet is survived by her loving husband, Jim Blanchard, daughter, Laura Crandall and husband Brad, sons, Jim Blanchard and wife Karen and Keith Blanchard and wife Amanda, grandchildren, Cecelia, Carson, Lauren, Jay, Nicholas, and Caroline, sister, Judy Mielke and husband Larry, brothers, Tip Kromenacker, John Kromenacker and wife Kelly, and Bob Kromenacker and wife Pam, sister in law, Judy Huss and many other loving family members. Janet is preceded in death by her parents, sister in law Marianne Kromenacker and brother in law, Ronald Huss.
The family will receive guests on Tuesday, August 9, 2011 at Blanchard-Strabler Funeral Home, 1163 W. Sylvania Ave. Toledo (419-269-1111) from 2:00 until 8:00 p.m. with a prayer service starting at 7:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, August 10, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church with Fr. Marty Donnelly, Celebrant. Burial to follow at Calvary Cemetery.
